What is Be the Church Sunday?

"Don't just go to church. BE the Church." This is the invitation the churches of Plain City extend to their congregations and the larger community on August 2, 2015. The twenty one churches of the Plain City Church Fellowship come together to sponsor the annual "Be the Church Sunday". Participating churches cancel their usual Sunday morning activities and worship services on August 2nd to focus on serving their community.

Blaine Keene, president of the Plain City Fellowship, described the significance of the event saying, "We really believe we can do more together than we can alone. Last year's theme verses in Isaiah 54:1-4 challenges us all to 'Think Big' when it comes to being the Church in Plain City. This is only the beginning of what God can accomplish in the greater Plain City region as followers of Jesus Christ come together to share God's love in tangible ways."

How can I get involved?

Be the Church Sunday is open to anyone who wants to make a positive difference in the Plain City Community. Participants gather at Jonathan Alder High School's main gym at 9:30 a.m. for a brief time of worship and prayer. Then they spread thoughout the community doing diverse service projects including activities like installing a vintage playground at Pastime Park, painting fire hydrants, singing hymns at local retirement communities, preparing lunch for area fire and police, feeding those in need and much more. The 2015 project list includes some great opportunities to serve - register now!
